Tanzi is a "Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed" (CPDT-KA) and "Pat Miller Certified Trainer" (PMCT). That means she is certified by both the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers via an extensive examination, and by a famous trainer, Pat Miller, both via examination and demonstration of training methods in several intense academies. She is an SAPro, meaning she has taken a course with Julie Naismith, certified behavior consultant and author of Be Right Back!, to learn how to work with dogs that experience separation anxiety. She earned a "Fear Free Certified Professional" certification from the Fear Free Pets organization to be able to assist clients and veterinarians with handling techniques to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress in dogs during visits. She takes continuing education classes frequently to stay current in her knowledge including completion of Dr. Susan Friedman's Living and Learning with Animals (LLA) course.

She works with all breeds, sizes, and energy levels and worked with dogs in a shelter environment for two years. She is married with 2 kids and has had up to 3 dogs in her family at one point as a mom, so she knows what it's like to get a bunch of family members to cooperate with very little free time for training practice.  She will help you understand why your dog is doing what he's doing. Then she will teach you how to get your dog to do what you want him to do when you want him to do it, so living together is a lot more fun (for both of you!)

Laurie is a "Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed" (CPDT-KA.) That means she is certified by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers via an extensive examination. She has been a dog lover since childhood, growing up surrounded by dogs on her family’s farm in Baltimore County and now she and her husband live with their pit bull terrier, Pickles, in the county. After adopting him in 2012, she became more interested in dog behavior, started assisting a local trainer, and progressed to teaching puppy and beginner classes. She has also worked for a large dog daycare and training facility, supervising group play and giving private lessons.

She truly enjoys helping people with their wild, sometimes frustrating, adolescent dogs – a situation she was in not so long ago with Pickles. He forced her to look at things differently, and instead of finding things wrong with his behavior, she began managing the environment to set him up for success. She also made sure his physical and mental needs were being met through brain games, trick training, and scent work. These somewhat small changes helped their relationship evolve from one filled with frustration to one based on understanding. She’d love to help you get there with your own dog!
